JBL
PROFESSIONAL VERTEC® LINE ARRAY SYSTEM FAMILY GROWS WITH NEW IMPROVED
COMPACT MODELS |
|
|
Enhancing the dominant position of its industry-leading VERTEC® Series
line array family, JBL Professional is now offering two upgraded
compact models. The VT4887A full range high directivity line array
element and the accompanying VT4881A single 18-inch arrayable
subwoofer each offer improved acoustical performance and higher output
capabilities when compared to their successful predecessors.
Appropriate for concert touring firms, A/V rental companies, and
live-performance venues alike, the new models are designed for
deployment in theaters, auditoriums, houses of worship and performing
arts centers, providing audio professionals with a broad, flexible
range of sound reinforcement solutions.
The VT4887A has extended low frequency response to 55 Hz through use
of JBL’s new 2268J-1 8-inch woofer. An additional 2 dB of output and
one-third octave of low-frequency extension is available when compared
to its predecessor, the VT4887. A unique new integrated port/handle
assembly aids in low frequency extension. The model also incorporates
a newly-optimized mid/high frequency network and new high frequency
elements, JBL’s 2408H component transducer. Frequency range is 55
Hz-22 kHz (-10 dB).
At only 30.4 kg (67 pounds), the VT4887A is ideally suited for use in
multi-box arrays, as down fill elements in main arrays made of larger
VERTEC models, or as extended-range fill speakers in concert and
special-event applications. Dual NL-8 and NL-4 input connectors
provide connectivity options. Pre-configured to accept a JBL
Drive-Pack® amplifier module, the VT4887A enclosure has standardized
mechanical and electrical fittings to receive the DP-2 electronics
package. A wheeled transport dolly and rugged soft cover is contained
in the available VT4887-ACC Accessory Kit.

Like its companion
full range VT4887A, the compact VT4881A arrayable subwoofer module has
been designed with premium audio fidelity, high output power,
lightweight system packaging and ease of use in mind. The VT4881A is
fitted with JBL’s advanced Differential Drive® dual voice-coil
loudspeaker technology and a neodymium magnet.
With 2000W (AES) power rating, the VT4881A has double the power
handling capacity of its predecessor, the VT4881, and offers 6 dB more
output capability. JBL’s new Ultra Long Excursion 2269H 18-inch woofer
energizes the PlyMax™ engineered-panel enclosure, which is finished
with JBL’s rugged DuraFlex™ coating and fitted with both NL4 and NL8
connectors. Pre-configured to accept a JBL Drive-Pack® amplifier
module, the VT4881A enclosure has standardized mechanical and
electrical fittings to receive the DP-1 electronics package. A wheeled
transport dolly and rugged soft cover is contained in the available
VT4881-ACC Accessory Kit.

Both new system
models include integral suspension hardware and are designed to
complement other models in the VERTEC line, both mechanically and
acoustically.
“JBL’s new compact VERTEC loudspeaker systems offer demonstrably
superior performance than the previous models,” said Paul Bauman,
Director, Tour Sound Product and Application Engineering, JBL
Professional. “Now, in addition to the predictable coverage available
with these compact VERTEC Series line array systems, we’re providing
improved output power capabilities for the subwoofer and extended low
frequency response for the compact line array element. And the
flexibility of a future upgrade path for conversion to powered models
if desired is an added benefit. JBL customers in the tour sound and
fixed installation performing arts markets should realize significant
benefits from these system improvements.”
